Terms of use

The terms on which this website, the MemberOne member app and the club portal may be used.

1. Who these terms are with

These terms are an agreement between you and MemberOne (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. By using this website, the member app at app.memberone.co.za or the club portal, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use them.

2. Your membership is with your club

MemberOne provides the technology your club uses to serve its members. Your membership, your subscription, your playing rights, your club’s pricing, its booking and cancellation rules and its code of conduct are matters between you and your club. Nothing here changes them, and MemberOne is not a party to them.

3. Accounts

Member accounts are created against a club that is live on the platform, using an email address the club holds for you. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to that address rather than a password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for activity carried out through your account. Tell your club or us immediately if you believe your account has been used without your authority.

Club portal accounts are issued to a club’s staff by the club. The club is responsible for who holds them and for withdrawing them when someone leaves.

4. The member wallet

  • The wallet is a club account. Balances are spendable at the club they were loaded for. It is not a bank account, it is not a payment card, it does not bear interest, and it may not be used to transfer money to another person.
  • Top-ups are processed by a third-party payment gateway. Your card details are handled by that gateway, not by MemberOne or your club.
  • Balances are drawn down by the transactions you authorise in the app or at a club outlet. A rotating one-time code shown in the app authorises a charge; treat it as you would a PIN.
  • Refunds for cancelled bookings are returned to the wallet, not to your card, unless your club’s rules or the law require otherwise. Our refunds and returns policy sets out how refunds work in full.
  • Your club’s rules govern minimum and maximum balances, dormancy, and what happens to a balance when a membership ends. Ask your club for its current rules.
  • Every movement is recorded in a transaction ledger. If you believe an entry is wrong, raise it with your club or with us and we will investigate against that record.

5. Bookings

A booking is confirmed when the app says it is confirmed and any amount due has been taken. Availability, interval rules, guest limits, cart availability, competition holds and cancellation windows are set by your club. Your club may cancel or move bookings for course conditions, competitions, maintenance or its own rules.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the platform to break the law, to interfere with its security or availability, to access another member’s information, to scrape or reverse-engineer it, or to make bookings you have no intention of using in order to deny them to others. We may suspend an account that does, and will tell the club when we do.

7. Availability

We work to keep the platform available and secure, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party failures and events outside our control can interrupt it. Where the app is unavailable, your club’s office can continue to take bookings and payments directly.

8. Intellectual property

The platform, its software and the MemberOne name and marks belong to MemberOne (Pty) Ltd. Club names, crests and branding shown in the platform belong to the clubs concerned and are used with their permission. Nothing here transfers ownership of any of it.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act. Subject to that, MemberOne is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss arising from your club’s decisions, rules or conduct, or for loss caused by your failure to keep access to your account secure. Our total liability in connection with the platform is limited to the amount held in your wallet at the time the claim arises.

10. Changes and termination

We may change these terms; the current version is always on this page with its date. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Your access ends when your club membership ends or when your club’s agreement with MemberOne ends; your club will tell you how any remaining wallet balance is dealt with.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
